about

Inspired by noir sci-fi, this album’s dystopian cinematic explorations provide soundscapes for interstellar travel, orbiting distant exoplanets, or tracking rogue androids across Jupiter's moons. Its blend of electronic and deconstructed orchestral timbres evoke whirling wormholes, galactic outposts, and untethered spacewalks through swirling nebulae. Tranquil yet challenging, these sonic fields cultivate cosmic dream-states where future memories are lost in time (like tears in rain).

Replicant Stardust is a duo comprised of two artists who grew up geeking out over alt rock, Star Wars, Stephen King, and Frank Zappa. Friends for more than three decades, this is their first true musical collaboration and release. While Kumis prefers hardware samplers, guitars, and other out-of-the-box gear, Schauert leans into soft synth ethereal beds and symphonic textures. These two approaches meld seamlessly, complimenting one another to produce ego-dissolving atmospheres that merge digital and analog waveforms while juxtaposing the closely familiar with the distantly enigmatic.

Paul Schauert has been releasing original music for over 20 years; it features a fusion of jazz, electronica, and world music with a heavy influence from various African traditions; you can find most of his recordings here: paulschauert.bandcamp.com/music

Scott Kumis also produces original music as Kumie; find some of it here: kumiemusic.bandcamp.com
